I received an email from the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Earth Heritage Trust ( http://www.earthheritagetrust.org/ ) asking if they could put some information up on this website, details below..


The Earth Heritage Trust is a voluntary organisation who works to record, protect and promote geology and landscape in the counties of Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
The project in question is named 'The Community Earth Heritage Champions project': in a nutshell the project aims to involve local communities and organisations in the understanding, conservation and utilisation of key geological sites across Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Among the 20 chosen sites are two disused quarries in the Lickey Hills Country Park.
Members of the local community (both from Cofton Hackett and Lickey and Blackwell parishes) will be invited to get involved in the project which will focus on conserving the site; understanding the geology of the site; exploring the history and wildlife of the site; and utilising the site for recreation among other potential uses. The project is being run in close conjunction with Lickey Hills Country Park.
To get the ball rolling we will be holding a project public meeting at Lickey Hills Country Park Visitors Centre on the 26th September.
